AH Insight

Market data for a game economy.

AH Insight tracks every auction house on Warmane, the largest World of Warcraft 3.3.5a server. Scans are imported every two hours and turned into prices, history and buy and sell suggestions, on the website, in a desktop app and in an addon inside the game.

01Price pages

Every realm, both factions, free to browse.

Public price pages cover all six markets: Icecrown, Lordaeron and Onyxia, Alliance and Horde. Each market shows its total listed value, active auctions and a market index, and the best sellers for every profession, ranked by how much actually sells.

  • No account needed for the public pages
  • Demand score and sales per day for each item
  • Built for search, with a page per item and market

02Price history

Is it cheap right now?

Every item page answers that question first. The current price is compared with the last 90 days and the typical yearly range, then shown against Alliance and Horde history: every scan for the past week, daily for the past year and weekly back to 2023. The server's gold squishes are marked on the charts, so a drop in prices is not mistaken for a crash.

  • Market value, lowest buyout and supply on every scan
  • Alliance and Horde on one chart
  • Volatility compared with similar items
Frost Lotus on Icecrown Horde: cheaper than 98% of the last 90 days.
03Smart picks

Buy and sell suggestions, with the odds shown.

Smart picks flag items whose price is unusual against the market, against similar items and against the item's own normal swing. The odds behind each signal are measured on a year of daily history from every realm and recalculated every week, and each pick states its odds and its reason. Thin markets are left out.

  • Buy, sell and craft suggestions per realm
  • Odds backtested on a year of history
  • Shown on the website and in game tooltips
04Gold making

Tools for players who trade for a living.

Pro members get the tools behind the numbers. Flips are auctions listed well below their market value, ranked by the profit that can realistically be made within a week after the 5% auction house cut. Crafting shows what each recipe costs from current reagent prices and what it sells for, and watchlists send an email or a Discord message when a price crosses a target.

  • Flip finder ranked by realistic profit
  • Crafting profit from live reagent prices
  • Watchlists with email and Discord alerts
  • Market movers among items that actually sell
05Addon & app

The prices, inside the game.

Players make their decisions at the auction house, not in a browser. The AH Insight addon suite puts market value, sales per day and smart picks in every item tooltip, and handles posting, buying, crafting, mailing and accounting. A Windows desktop app signs in with the website account and keeps the addon's prices in sync with every new scan.

  • Seven addons for the 3.3.5a game client
  • Gold-making groups for every profession, set up on first login
  • Desktop app in Electron and React, in the same design as the site
  • No server secrets in the app; the login is stored encrypted

06Data pipeline

Scans in, prices out, every two hours.

A scheduled job checks each market for a new auction house scan and imports only what has changed. Each import updates the per-item statistics, from market value and supply to estimated sales and volatility, and then checks every user's alerts. Raw scans are pruned after a week; one row per item and day is kept for good. Subscriptions are billed weekly through Stripe.

  • Next.js, Supabase and Postgres, on Vercel
  • All six markets imported in about 35 seconds
  • Weekly Stripe subscriptions with self-service billing
  • The addon suite tested against a simulated game client
