Økonomiguiden

Follow the state's money.

Økonomiguiden answers one question: where does the Danish state's money go? The finance act, extra appropriations, annual reports, state companies and state pay are collected automatically and shown together for every ministry and institution, from what was planned to what was spent.

01The finance act

Planned, extra and spent, on one page.

Every ministry, area and account on the finance act has its own page. Each one opens with a short summary and follows the money in three steps: what was planned in the finance act, what was granted extra during the year and what was actually spent according to the state accounts. Spending is charted back to 2012, and the institutions under each ministry are listed with their latest annual report.

  • Finance acts from 2007 to 2026
  • 1,602 accounts on the 2026 finance act, with new and changed accounts marked
  • Charts with a table and a download behind every figure
Defence on the 2026 finance act: 93.7 billion kroner, 33.8 billion more than in 2025.
02Extra appropriations

What changed after December.

The finance act is passed in December, but new needs arise during the year. The Finance Committee's extra appropriations are collected from the Danish Parliament every day and sorted into new money, redistribution of existing funds, block grants and savings, so new spending is not confused with money that is only moved around.

  • Every appropriation since 2004, updated daily
  • Each one labelled by what it does to the budget
  • Technical appropriations hidden by default, one click away
Extra appropriations in 2026: 10.8 billion kroner across 59 approved appropriations.
03Pay in the state

What does a police officer earn?

Pay figures from Statens Lønoverblik cover 218 positions and more than 200,000 full-time employees. Up to four jobs can be compared side by side, split into base pay, allowances and pension, and set against the state average, prices since 2015 and the pay of top executives.

  • 218 positions, updated every quarter
  • Pay against prices and purchasing power since 2015
  • Separate overview of department heads' pay
Police officers, teachers and lawyers compared with the state average.
04Cases

A project followed through the years.

Large public projects span many years and many decisions. Each tracked case collects its events on a timeline, with the amounts granted and a link to the source behind every entry, and connects to the budget of the institution responsible.

  • 217 cases followed, from railways to schools
  • Timeline of events, filterable to those with amounts
  • Every event linked to its source
The rail electrification programme, followed from 2012 to 2026.
05AI assistant

AI that reads the sources and does not invent numbers.

An AI model reads the finance act text for each account and extracts figures, changes, rules and political agreements. It does not write numbers of its own: every figure must appear in the source text and every quote must be verbatim, or it is discarded before publication. The assistant answers questions from the site's own figures, links each number to its page and can deliver a report as PDF or Word.

  • Figures checked against the source before they are published
  • AI-written text labelled and linked to its sources
  • Answers in chat, reports as PDF or Word
  • The same 16 tools behind the assistant, the REST API and the MCP server
Ask about the state's money: answers built on the site's own figures.
06Data & platform

Built on the same foundation as Lovguiden.

The data comes from Økonomistyrelsen, the Danish Parliament, Erhvervsstyrelsen, Medarbejder- og Kompetencestyrelsen and Danmarks Statistik, collected automatically daily, quarterly or yearly depending on the source. Figures in PDF files are extracted automatically, and every page links to its original. Økonomiguiden shares accounts and subscriptions with Lovguiden and links to the laws behind the money.

  • Next.js on Vercel, on the platform that runs Lovguiden
  • Automatic collection from public sources
  • One account across Lovguiden and Økonomiguiden
  • REST API and MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and other agents
Contact

The same approach, for other businesses.

A short description of the work to be automated is enough to start the conversation.
